I have not had any new blisters or breakouts of the lichen in 8 months. Since the last course of medicine many of the lesions have dried up and gone away. The right big toe nail looks about 95% normal. The left big toe nail is still growing out - looks about 75% normal.

My Lichen Planus has not spread. The side of my tongue was quite raw/inflamed, there is a change in that area in that it's not as raw as it use to be. I have no new eruptions, the old are much improved.
I find that I can tolerate the ordinary toothpaste a lot better than before,as well as a little hot and spicy food, and my nails are slowly improving. I mostly had the pigmentation in my cheeks whic has also improved. |

I, G.B.B. PIN: 18295, was suffering from Lichen Planopilaris confirmed by biopsy since September 2009 (about two years ago). The first spot which appeared was like a circle, about 4 centimeters in diameter; the second spot which was close to the first one was about 3 centimeters in diameters (not perfect circles, more irregular than circles). These spots started on the scalp, first one spot in the September of 2009, which calmed down after 3 months of treatment (Conventional treatment: Plaquenil and Kenalog spray) and then in August/September 2010, the first spot reappeared and then I developed the second spot. I had moderate to mild itching associated with the red spots and some emotional stress since childhood.
In October 2010, I approached Life Force Center, Dr Rajesh Shah’s Clinic. My case details were taken online and I was made to fill a Questionnaire regarding my medical details and my life stresses.
After starting the treatment, I was prescribed 4 months of medicines. By the completion of 4 months, on 28 January 2011, I had responded great. Since last 10 years I have been suffering from Oral LP, I started developing dark purplish spots in my mouth with severe itching and burning which was more on taking hot and spicy food.
My LP was spreading and I started developing the LP spots on my genitals, nails and skin. The eruptions were severely itchy, blackish ugly and made me feel under confident and dirty about myself. In last 10 years I have shown to atleast 10 Dermatologist Dr but in vain. All of them would start me on oral or injectable steroids and strong medicines like Dapsone with which the LP would reduce to some extent, however the nail changes and the LP in the genitals and mouth would never go off completely and once I stopped these medicines the eruptions would erupt back with vengeance. I was fed up with this condition and I kept blaming my smoking habit for the LP to come back again.
With 2 months of medicines from Dr Shah’s clinic, there is remarkable improvement in the both side of cheek inside the mouth. The oral lesions are reducing by 40 % and there is 80% improvement in the genital lesion. Initially even slightest touch to the genitals caused a lot of pain and discomfort, which is now 80% better. The LP lesions on the legs and arms are drying up and are now less in number, they are becoming dry and flat. The nails are clearing up and are shiny which is like a miracle for me as I was getting habituated to having deformed nails. I am able to take hot and spicy food without much discomfort.
There is significant change in my LP, I have never felt so good, as the spots are clearing up and making me feel very healthy. Thank you Dr Shah for giving back my confidence.

I, NB, started with some white lines in my mouth, they were very painful and gradually they were spreading. I was experiencing severe pain and burning in the oral mucosa which was more on taking hard food or taking sour, spicy food or hot and cold food in any form. The pain was so severe that it affected my appetite and I couldn’t eat properly due to it. I had started using a kids toothpaste as I couldn’t tolerate a adult toothpaste which caused severe burning sensation in my mouth.
I was a diabetic which was under control with oral hypoglycemics. The skin was diagnosed as being LP and I was put on a course of cyclosporin for 4 months, but there was no change. In fact the LP spread further and also appeared in my vagina. I was very frustrated with this annoying complaint as the LP spots were very itchy and ugly. I approached Dr Shah’s clinic with this complaint.
With in 2 months of starting the treatment, there was mild improvement in my burning.
Within 6 months of starting the treatment, Dr Shah, I can say that there was significant improvement in my LP. There was 60% improvement in my mouth and 20% improvement in the vagina. The size of the old spots had reduced. There was no further spread in the LP. The pain and the burning in the mouth had reduced a lot and the white lines disappeared gradually. I am back to the adult toothpaste since I am able to brush my mouth without feeling the burn from the lichen planus. I am regaining my appetite as I am able to eat everything without much discomfort.

Since last 10 years I started with severe itching and hyperpigmented elevated eruptions on my hands, feet, wrist, soles and knuckles. These eruptions were violet in colour and were gradually becoming blackish in colour. I, Ms. N. A. S, from India, Pin number: 3553 was suffering from Oral LP since last 6 years. I had multiple patches spreading inside the cheeks appearing as white streak lines and caused severe burning sensation. The burning would increase by slightest touch or after taking spicy food.
Within 4 months of treatment, the spread of Oral LP stopped. The pain improved by 45-55 % and it would pain only occasionally.

I had recurrent mouth ulcer which I kept neglecting. One fine day I was affected with Orchitis (swelling of the testis) and was started with heavy painkillers and antibiotics for it for a long time. After this treatment the Mouth ulcers became chronic and now there were whitish streaks in the inside of my mouth. There was severe burning sensation and I couldn’t take any spicy and hot food as that caused heat sensation in my mouth. On showing to a dermat Dr I was said that I have Oral LP, which was caused due to the over use of heavy painkillers.

Out of curiosity I did a search on LP and came across Dr Shah's site on LP and I was very surprised to see that the description given was very much similar to my skin condition. On speaking with one of the associate Drs I was sure that I am at the right place.
